Pakistan’s Southern Sindh Reports Rise in Dengue Deaths

(MENAFN) Pakistan’s southern Sindh province has reported three additional deaths from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities this year to six, according to the provincial health department.

Officials said two of the latest victims—a 30-year-old woman from Malir and a 65-year-old man from Karachi's West district—died at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital, while an 18-year-old girl from Hyderabad district passed away at Liaquat University Hospital.

The department reported that more than 1,400 people tested positive for dengue across the province over the past 24 hours, including 618 cases in Karachi and 793 in Hyderabad. Over 200 patients were also admitted to hospitals across Sindh during the same period.

Authorities warned citizens to avoid self-medication, stay properly hydrated, and seek prompt medical attention to prevent serious complications, such as internal bleeding and low platelet counts.

Officials added that the full extent of the outbreak remains uncertain, as many private hospitals and clinics do not report their data to government health authorities.
